학과목 및 교실소개

수의발생학은 동물체 조직의 초기발생과 후기발생 과정 중에 형성되는 구조물의 형태와 구조에 대하여 이해하고, 장기 조직의 발생과정에서 조직 세포의 형태학적인 구조를 단계적으로 소개한다. 수의 유전학은 유전학적 기본 이론을 고전적, 현대적 수준에서 강의한다. 특히 현대 유전학의 발전 과정을 통해 분자유전학의 기초를 정립시키고, 유전학의 응용에 관한 유전공학적, 생명공학적 측면에서도 강의한다.

학부과정에서는 수의학 기초 과목인 수의 유전학과 수의발생학 강의를 진행하고 있으며, 대학원과정에서는 수의 발생학의 심화강좌인 수의발생학특론, 마우스 유전체학 및 발생학 강좌가 개설되어 있다. 현재 교실에서는 유전자변형마우스(GEM, Genetically Engineered Mouse)를 이용하여 기본표현형 및 운동, 대사 표현형 분석을 연구하며, 특별히 비만, 당뇨와 같은 대사성 질환 마우스 모델을 이용하여 유전자의 기능과 분자적 수준에서의 질병의 원인 및 발병 기작을 연구한다.
